Is FBU free to join?
Yes – membership is completely free. You just need to apply.
How do I apply?
Submit an application through the website. We review all applications and get back to you shortly.
What is FBU looking for in applicants?
We look for students who are genuinely interested in finance and have the potential to succeed in it. There’s no single profile – we’re looking for people we believe, with the right guidance, will go on to do great things.
Who can join FBU?
Any student at a UK university with an interest in finance, as well as recent graduates (<2 years). We’re active across every UK university, as well as some European and American ones.
Why do I need to apply rather than just sign up?
FBU is a selective community. We keep it that way to maintain the quality of the network and the opportunities available to members.
What kind of events does FBU run?
Fireside chats with senior industry leaders, HR-led hiring insight sessions, formal networking dinners, workshops, webinars, technical competitions, and social events including poker nights. We do all sorts of events, all with the mission of helping you break into finance.
Where do events take place?
Most in-person events are held in central London, and the majority can also be joined virtually. Some events are fully online.
How often does FBU run events?
During term time, there is at least one event every week – across fireside chats, networking, workshops, webinars, and more.
What are the exclusive internships?
FBU has partnerships with firms across investment banking, private equity, M&A, VCs, start-ups, and corporates – offering our members internship opportunities not publicly advertised.
Do I need prior finance experience to benefit from FBU?
No. Whether you’re just exploring finance or you’ve already done internships, FBU is built to support you at every stage.
What kinds of firms does FBU work with?
We have relationships with all of the leading firms across investment banking, sales & trading, asset management, private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, and large corporates.
